We are very grateful to those of you who have paid the annual subscriptions or made donations. If you have not already done so, please support us so that we can deploy the funds into our maintenance and cleaning endeavours. The account details are set out below. These funds are used for maintaining the suburb.
UPDATES
We have some important update for you.
We have worked recently with City Power to repair various street lights in the suburb. We thank our councillor, Dave Fisher for his efforts in this regard as we have made significant progress and at present, over 90% of our street lights are working.
Please report any street lights that are not working on the City Power website www.citypower.co.za . Then select Fault Logging. If you have not registered on the website, please do so as it is a useful and important resource. When reporting street lights that are not working, please endeavour to indicate the number on the pole itself (some numbers are not visible) or the nearest corner or house number; if there is an area out, reference can be made to the street pole numbers themselves or the entire street. There are comments sections on the reporting page for additional information.
We are grateful to City Power for replacing the two street lights knocked over on Melrose Street, one outside Pikit Up and the other outside Cydna.
We are aware of the failure by contractors to re-instate the paving and wiring on Melrose Street at the bridge. There are also two large pot holes on the bridge which contractors failed to re-instate on the left hand side if you are driving up towards Athol Oaklands Road. Please exercise caution when walking or driving in that area.
We are also working with JRA to attend to repair of potholes in various areas of the suburb. Please report the potholes to hotline@jra.org.za and if possible, please take a picture of the pothole and indicate the road, nearest corner and nearest house. In this regard, we are aware of pot holes on Edgewood Avenue, North Street, Melrose Street, and Ravenswood Avenue. Please assist us in reporting.
Please note the recent updates from MB CAP relating to various criminal activities in the suburb and we encourage you to join CAP and get the regular email updates. We are concerned about increased levels of opportunistic crimes and urge you to exercise vigilance. MB CAP offers regular helpful suggestions in this regard.
We have noticed an increase in illegal dumping on Melrose Street and Edgewood Avenue (top section near shops) and please report this if you see any such activity.
We continue to work closely with the James and Ethel Gray Park Foundation in a number of initiatives and we are very hopeful that the fencing project of the Park will be complete very soon. New Clear Vu gates were recently installed on Melrose Street and Edgewood Avenue entrances The Foundation is busy with a number of maintenance and upgrade projects and further updates will follow in due course.
You may have noticed some new initial street markings on Wrenrose Avenue- these relating to the upgrading of parking and traffic calming processes and we are most grateful to Ralph Chin of the Birdhaven Centre for his efforts in this regard. This process is being implemented in stages and we are hopeful that Wrenrose Avenue will become safer and the traffic congestion will be eased shortly through additional measures. We are working with Ralph on these processes and we thank him for committing his time and for covering the costs in this regard.
2021 SUBSCRIPTIONS
The subscription for houses or clusters for 2021 is R675 per house per annum. The subscription for flats and apartments for 2021 is R68 per flat or apartment per annum. The subscriptions remain the same as last year in light of the prevailing economic conditions.
If you are willing to donate a higher amount, this will be greatly appreciated, and we are most grateful to those residents who are able to support us with additional funding over the course of the year. We note that our service providers face cost increases due to, inter alia, uncertain petrol prices and material costs.

We are sensitive to the tough economic environment brought about by Covid-19, but we would be grateful for your support. Your support enables us to maintain, protect and improve our beautiful suburb.
